I am making a friends wedding cake and she is having Cadbury (Australian Chocolate) purple. I was wondering if any of the commercial purples are close to this or would I need to mix it? If so, how?
Thanks.
Lovely colour. There are a few great purples show up in a 'Cadbury' search in galleries. PM might give a lead to best brand to buy. Cheers.

Thanks Blue , took me bloody ages to get that purple off my hands , I didn't have any gloves left when I mixed it up.
Just a tip if you are mixing a dark colour like that it helps to add just a little glycerine into the fondant , it helps stop crazing.
Thanks Chellescakes. Your cake is excellent. The colour is exactly what I needed. Luckily I don't need anywhere near that much.

Oh your most welcome - it looks wonderful....
Yes, been there - done that - lolllllllllllll
Two weeks ago i did a three tier Wedding Cake - the colour of ALL the fondant - DARK TEAL -
I mixed - Teal - Touch of Black - Forrest Green - Moss Green and then more Dark Green.....then about 7 more drops of Black.
6.5 hours it took me to get the 7.250 grams of fondant coloured just right.
Cant remember how many pairs of gloves i went through - lolllllllllll
Had many a blow out - lolllllllllll
Best thing for getting the colour out from under ones nails and off hands - WASH ONES HAIR 4 TIMES THEN CONDITION - rofl

I am just glad that i wasn't the one eating the Dark Teal - i did mention to the bride that some colours/brands can stain false teeth more so than others..... something many people don't think of when ordering a colourful cake...
Bluehue .
LOL Blue, in the end I used Jif , it works great and actually isn't as hard on your hands as you might think.
