Advice please-Barbie's legs blew out bottom layer...help!

I should have taken off Barbie's legs, but the customer sounded hesitant it would break the doll. So when I stuck Barbie in, it blew out my bottom layer.

So I was able to mold it back together w/ frosting and stuck my cake in the fridge. But not I'm wondering if I should try to rebake bottom layer and try to replace bottom layer only..not sure if trying to lift and replace will crack the whole cake?? Yikes...don't know if I really have time to start over!

Or leave it as is and recommend keeping cake refrigerated as long as possible.

Barbie's legs are off now, so most of the pressure is off the layers.

Advice please!!!

Well, I don't have any recommendations about the actual cake, but the next time, you can cut a core out of the entire cake, wrap the legs tightly together with saran wrap, pipe a bit of BC into the cored out area, and insert the doll (sort of like a full length "doll dowel").

Just have to think about it a little more before you do something like that I guess. It's like getting into a bathtub, you displace water. Same for sticking large things into a cake, it displaces it (and in your case, blows it out).

I actually did cut a hole and my cake was perfect but I guess my hole was not large enough.

I just don't know what to do now?

I agree with BlakesCakes.

I would also rebake that tier bc even though you repaired and froze it, there is still the chance of a breakdown. But, its up to you, JMHO. Good Luck

Do barbies legs show on the cake at all? There are the generic "Barbie" doll 1/2s that you can get at stores like michaels that are made for cakes

No, the legs don't show, but the "doll picks" that are just the torso and head are pretty ugly.

By using a real Barbie, the doll can be kept and used. They really make a much more attractive cake.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to re-bake the whole cake! Lesson learned!
