Okay, so I'm making an angry birds cake..TOMORROW! I am not using fondant..not that advanced. I bought the birds and am making the structure out of nutty bars. One thing I forgot to do was buy a slingshot. I HAVE to have a slingshot for this cake...any suggestions on how to make one? It does not have to be edible and would prefer not fondant, etc. Just help! I've been to like 24, 000 stores and no sling shot, not even any that are used for water balloons. Any suggestions would help! icon_cry.gif

I've made quite a few Angry Birds cakes. I make the slingshots with rice crispy treats covered in .... fondant. Sorry. I know you wanted another answer. I honestly can't think of another way for you to do it. It's a pretty unique shape. You can buy the ready made pack of Wilton fondant that has black and brown in it. That's all you need.

I used large pretzel sticks--covered in fondant but you may be able to try chocolate melts, I "glued" mine with candy melts into a 'Y' and used fondanf for the springy part but I guess you could use a rubber band for that part if you are dead set against fondant.

There is actually nothing easier than fondant--you make it look exactly the way you wanted and it is like playdough for grown ups! Give it a try!

personally I would make it out of pretzals + modeling chocolate/Fondant or even gumpaste would work good too.

You could also use the pretzel rods and nuke a couple of tootsie rolls until just soft (just seconds) and use them to cover the rods You could use fruit string or airheads or something like it to make the springlike.
