You want to use the gel or paste. The ones from the grocery store are too watery and you need much more color to get the shade you want. I use americolor only need a few drops, its great!
Hi! I have tried both methods, I found Wilton Gels are by far the best for a vibrant colour (although I have not used americolor before, so Wilton is only best for me by experience!) . When I've tried the supermarket-bought liquid dyes the colours were very lack-lustre and dull in comparison.
