Hey all... I have a cupcake order for tomorrow and trying to make gumpaste out of fondant. No prob, just add tylose right? Well its oily and there are little hard pieces of fondant that I cant seem to work out. Ive added a ton of confectionary sugar and have been kneading for 20 mins. Help! Thanks in advance
Sorry I can't really help as i have never had that happen. I'd say the fondant was not good to begin with.
Oily? What fondant are you using? Is it Duffs or Fondarific? A few brands never get hard even when you add Tylose.
Sometimes microwaving old fondant for 5 second bursts works and you don't tend to need much tylose as it sets rock hard when cool, you need to trim off the hard oily looking outside 'stale' bit first though- if the stale outside has crumbled up and been kneeded into the fondant leaving little 'hard bits' its only fit for the trash
Hope you don't have to start again but sounds like you might sorry
We have two super walmarts by us that are open all nighy long and they carry gumpaste do you have that option or no? If not id hate to say the other post sound about right about having to start over again
