Pregnant Belly Cake - Do You Put A Filling?

Hi all..Ive searched and searched..and can't seem to find an answer...
I am going to be trying to make one of those belly cakes...using the soccer ball/wonder ball pans I think... My question is: Can I put a filling inside like you would normally do with a regular cake (layer of cake, filling, layer of cake) Or just forget about it? Seems like a lot of cake to serve, with just the layer of buttercream under the fondant...But didn't want to attempt it if it's going to be hard to do w/ it being in the shape of a ball.... Any thoughts would be great! thank you all!
i am making one tomorrow and i was wondering the same. i am going to fill with frosting that's the same color as the inside of the cake, i'm afraid of it looking unappealing when cut.
You can cut it in half and fill it. The one I did was chocolate and I filled it with cream cheese. I did the belly with a big stainless steel bowl and the boobs with the Wilton ball pan with 2" tall 6" round cakes beneath each. I can post a photo if you're interested.
