I got asked to make a car cake that has lambo doors ( doors that open straight up ) and i was trying to figure out the best way to do that without them falling down or off .

I would think making them out of gum paste with a dowel in them to stick into the cake would work.

You could use a sucker stick OR kabob stick OR even pipe royal icing 'barbs' on the 'door' instead of actually suing a dowel stick. If you can get the door rectangle thin enough there won't be much weight to hold.
