A couple collected their wedding cake the day before the wedding and took it to the venue to be stored until the next day, I usually deliver wedding cakes myself so that i know they are how they should be before i leave, anyway, I saw pictures of the cake on facebook and it wasn't how it should have been.i asked the couple why the cake wasn't stacked as should have been, they said the venue wouldn't stack it because they didn't want to be responsible if it toppled, just wondering what others thought as i've done other cakes like this and delivered myself fine. Should have been a 3 tier but they wouldnt do more than two.

I understand that things are done differently in different places, but I would never leave cake stacking to venue staff.
For me, the cake goes out stacked and the client signs a waiver stating that they understand the risks of handling delivery & set-up themselves OR I deliver it. Period.
Sadly, I think the venue had the right to protect their own interests--and that was to be sure that all of the cake provided was intact and able to be served. Had they stacked the cake and damaged it, or made it so that servings were lost, the couple would have had a beef with THEM, not you.

No venue here would stack a cake for me, either. Had you arranged it beforehand with them, then they changed their minds?
