Big task at hand! First cake, need to comfirm my plans. - Page 5

it sounds like the consistency that you made yourr fondant is not right. You shouldn't be able to pull it like taffy. It should be somewhat stiff for you to roll out.

also, any imperfection on the surface of your ganache will show through your fondant. That's why we scrape the ganache so that it is perfectly smooth with no ridges or bumps. It doesn't matter how thick roll your fondant it will not cover that up. so if you're cool with that, then proceed!

This is a funny post and I enjoyed reading it all. I'm rooting for you. Keep up the good work.

I, too, am anxious to see the final product. When I did my first (and only) LV purse cake, I was up for days. Never even crossed my mind to use frozen pound cake. It turned out okay for my first one, but I learned some things to do and not to do while making it. It was fun though.

I haven't forgot about ya'l

I had it completed Saturday afternoon, but I have been busy working on a dream catcher and detailing a car, and saw Spider Man (which is WAY better than the other one I hated by the way - a new favorite actually) pictures coming Sunday morning when I'm up to the whole android > computer > upload fun, I promise I wont bail!

Camera is dead so I am charging that so it's ready by sunrise when I show her the purse, hopefully it looks realistic enough to shock her for a moment icon_twisted.gif regardless... I think it turned out very nice compared to how I thought it was going to be once I had put on that pain in the arse fondant.

Oh even better, our husky decided to hop up on the counter and you have NO IDEA how lucky I was to have caught him... it wasn't even me who saw him... a friend saw him through the kitchen window when I was outside talking to them and they thought he was trying to look at us.. i knew EXACTLY what he was trying to do, make me fall on my knee's in tears was his plan, jealous he was yes. He managed to get a nice 2 - 3" area of it into his mouth. Now I have to do a touch up in the morning and add like a gum paste flower or something to it... I'll figure something out.. I don't want it to give it away instantly as a fake .... then again, I have been looking at this for 2 days straight almost so my judgement of it's appearance is not clear it could be crap from an outside perspective.. and I'm not a purse guy who knows allot about purses...

I just kinda made it a logical process of how I would make a purse in real life with a sewing machine etc.. the order I would go in, the signs of construction (sewing holes etc) In the end I just went off of my imagination and gave up on looking at the purse on the LV site to save myself from an OCD habit of being meticulous. Ah well it's sleep time..... thumbs_up.gif If I can with my anticipation for morning that is...and my fear of the husky opening our fridge and ripping it apart or my roommate putting the friggen egg carton on top of it again (luckily that was after the ganache process! it was hiding under wax paper so he thought it was really dark bread ugh) icon_cry.gif
