Charater Cake Pans Question
Decorating By letem_eat_cakes Updated 26 Jul 2012 , 7:20pm by letem_eat_cakes
I have about 25 old shaped charater pans that I am needing to get rid of. We are downsizing quite a bit and are moving into a small apartment and will not have room for these pans. I do not use them anyway, preferring to do everything by hand.
Some are from the early 70's all the way to the newest being in like late 90's. Most have the instructions with them.
My question is, where do you think I could sell them and get a decent price for them? I know I can try craigslist but I won't really get what they may be worth there. Also, I prefer not to try ebay if I can stay away from that.
Any suggestions would be welcome. TIA
I agree that eBay is your best bet, is there a specific reason you don't want to sell there?
You probably won't get what you paid for anywhere you choose to sell them. Especially if they are outdated. Early 70's? Very out dated. I had about 20 pans that I sold for $3-$4 each. Yeah, top dollar huh? I had Holly Hobby, Precious Moments, etc. When's the last time someone asked for a Holly Hobby cake? LOL. Good Luck.
I agree! Now, I did pay $45 for a Wilton Playboy Bunny pan off Ebay. But the day before, I bid $90 for the same pan, but let it go....Holly Hobby? You couldn't GIVE me one!

I do not like ebay because of all the sellers fees. You have to pay all the fees even if the item does not sell.
I actually looked into this last weekend.
You could try etsy. You don't pay a fee until you sell it, I think. And then it's not that much.

People are selling some there.
The eBay seller fees get you access to a national market. On Craigslist you can reach about 80,000 people in the Bloomington area, while eBay reaches 300 million people in the US. I'd say those seller fees are worth having your item listing reach 3,750 times as many people.
BTW you pay no insertion fees for the first 50 auction listings each month on eBay, so if they don't sell you don't pay anything.

Thanks for the info. I will look into ebay again tonight.
