I appreciate this gets asked a lot, but I'm really struggling with a name for my little cake making business. I have been thinking of names for a few weeks, but none have really grabbed me. I want something clever and quirky that incorporates either of my names; Stephanie, Steph, Steffi or Gadsby.

The only name I have managed to come up with that I like is "The Great Cakesby", but unfortunately some people don't get it. I don't want something simple like "Stephs Cakes" or "Stephs Sweets"

So whats the general opinion of "The Great Cakesby"? Will people understand the reference?

Thanks!

I think its nice and catchy, but you will always find people who will not understand. I say if you like it use it. Its about branding.. which comes from marketing. Which means get your name out there. When people think about buying a cake, is your name the first one that pops into their head?

I changed my name more than once because I had problems with it and or potential customers getting to my website because of the name.

When I read the name the first thing that came to my mind was the book "The Great Gatsby" I think that people that know you will understand the reference but not new customers.

To me, Great Gadsby Cakes is more obvious.

I agree with rdjr. I think its confusing to people who don't understand the reference. What about Steph's Great Cakes. Something simple and easily understood by all.

Good Luck it's hard to come up with a name.

I have to agree with CWR41. I think her suggestion will be understood by those who make the connection and it is still logical for those that don't.
