When adding color to my stargazer lilies should I just dust on the color or mix with vodka and paint it on? I know the dots are usually painted on but I'm not sure about the pink center. I have 25 lilies to color and I can't wait to get started.
I usually just dust on the colour, don't forget to dust just a little green at the base of the petal , it really makes a difference, there are some in my gallery if you want a peek
Thank you Chellescakes I took your advice and ordered the darker color you mentioned for the dots on the flowers. Can't wait to get started I just don't want to mess them up now that I finished all 150 petal. I ordered the rainforest green that Jennifer Dontz recommended for the ivy and rose petals and I love it. The color is perfect can't wait to see how the stargazer petal dust works out. Thank you for responding. I have read some posts that say to paint on the color and some that say to dust. Do you use Luster dust colors for the pink center or petal dust? I haven't been able to find a pink close to the actual flower. The stargazer dust looks more burgundy or mauve so I was thinking about trying to mix a couple of different pinks.
I use petal dust , and I blend up my colours with a soft dusting brush on a tissue with a little cornflour before I apply them . when I am done I steam them to set the colour , it will come out slightly darker when you have done that. Then I paint the dots on.
I forgot to say I use a toothpick to paint the dots on,
I can't wait to see your finished cake .
