My mom has a KitchenAid 3 quart mixer and I have a 5 1/2. I love mine but I am making her a wedding anniversary cake and I need to mix up frosting at her house. I have too many supplies to lug over so adding my mixer is not one I want to do. Can I use my bowl on her mixer? I've tried doing research but no luck.

Any ideas?

P.S. I'd make halves but this is Sugarshack's recipe and I don't know if the results would be the same.

Are the bowls the same width and depth? I'd be worried that action of the blade going around would be hitting the sides of her bowl because it isn't as big as yours. Actually, I have it backwards, you want to put your bowl on her machine. The blade may not have a wide enough arc when it mixes to do a proper job in your bowl.

You aren't able to make the icing at your house and just bring that with you instead of the ingredients?

I have three and all are different. Beater Blade has a chart of all KA mixers to show what size blade to buy. You could look there to see. Just google it. If the blade is the same, the bowl is the same.

Unfortunately, no I can't make it at her house. I am low on high-ratio and the only baking supply store that sells it is 10 minutes away from her house.

I should have thought about the bowl width. It makes sense. Thanks.

I am not sure about the blades but now that I think about it I think he bowl could probably fit inside my bowl so my bowl is bigger. I checked the website you recommended but I couldn't find her model...just mine.
