cotton candy on a cake?

Hi everyone!

I am creating a carnival themed cake and my client would like cotton candy (or a decor that looks like cotton candy) on the cake. My first thought was to actually use cotton candy, but the cake will need to be outside and I am afraid that will melt. Does anyone have any ideas on what would be the best thing to use?

Cotton candy is destroyed by moisture including very high humidity.

If you can wrap fresh cotton candy onto wooden sticks then you could make "bouquets" and a cake topper that would have to be replaced every hour or so. If you can price this into the cake, then you can provide what they really want.

Thank you so much for your responses. I don't like to use anything inedible on my cakes. I did a little experiment with packaged cotton candy and put it outside in the the heat (around 85 degrees) and in direct sun (which this cake won't be) and it didn't melt! It only got slightly hard.

BakingIrene - I am, however, going to make a few extra bouquets of cotton candy as you suggested (I will be a the party to replace if necessary) just in case!
