Playing with layered cake

So I am making a layered cake in the shape of the New York Yankee Stadium for my dad's 65th birthday. This is my first time every attempting something like this but what I need to know is should I frost the layers together before freezing it? Also, should I cover the cake with anything before freezing it?
I am thinking I may be over my head on this one........

My rule of thumb is simple. Never freeze a naked cake.
If you choose to freeze it with nothing on it, wrap it in plastic wrap (I double wrap) and then aluminum foil.

If you want to sculpt and then freeze, that's fine. torte and fill and sculpt and then cover with a crumb coat of buttercream. At that point you can freeze it.

I don't know your timing, so it's hard to comment on a timetable for your stadium. Good Luck

I just started it today and it is for Sunday. I am hoping I can have it finished by then.
