Unless he's blowing smoke onto the cake, it will be fine. There are lots of chefs and bakers out there who smoke, and you would never be able to tell based on their product. Cake will not absorb the smell in someone's hair or clothes as long as proper hygiene techniques are used. Have you ever had cake that tasted like cologne/perfume? (Maybe someone has, I suppose it's not impossible!
