I have a bride with a May 2014 wedding who wants to set up a consultation this week. Do you have a policy on taking orders that far out? I know money is money if they decide to book me, but does this seem like extreme planning? In your experience, are these the kind of brides who will email their baker over the next two years with a million changes as the trends change?

She is shopping right now. The distant date is probably due to her choice of venue. No way to kn ow if she shanges her mind...that is what you will find out at the consultation.

In any case, you really need a contract that says that changes less than 1 month before the cake date will cost extra $$$.

I actually do have brides book me two years out sometimes, I am doing one of those in November this year . The cake is now paid for as well as my flight to deliver it.
If you do book this far out though you do need to include a clause of there may be an adjustment in final pricing due to normal price index rises.

Yes, if you are not dating someone it's too early to book your wedding cake. icon_lol.gif
