A cousin of ours works for Walgreens Drug Store and they just had an employee transfer to their store after the hurricane. She and her husband are expecting in late October. He husband is a police officer and had to stay behind in New Orleans. They lost everything in the hurricane, including a beautiful nursery. The employees there decided to get together and have a shower for her and I offered to do the cake.
Since this is such a hard time for her and the fact that her husband is not here, I really want to do something special. Which of course brings me here to everyone and their great suggestions!
I will be making a 1/2 sheet cake and probably some cookies to go along with it. I saw some great cakes in the gallery and a few had a small round on top as well so I may do that too.
Any ideas?? I'd like to stay away from anything themed around police (may be more depressing to her) and no fondant covered cakes.
Thanks in advance! icon_biggrin.gif

If you knew what theme she used for the nursery stuff she lost, that'd be nice to do and for co-workers to buy that theme stuff for her again. I'm not sure if you could find that out or not, but it's a suggestion. Bless all of you for helping her out in their time of need. It takes everyone pulling together to help all of the evacuees that lost everything they own.
