Thank you. Just wish the party wasn't outside.... it was going to be 96 deg - it's now about 104/105. I will have it on ice, but I'm sure it won't last long.
Nice job!
I don't understand people who want to put cakes outside where it's not only hot, it will attract bugs.
When you deliver this cake make sure you tell them you can't guarantee how the cake will look after sitting outside in 100 degree plus heat and that if there was a way to avoid it, you'd encourage it. And really, as a guest I don't think I'd want to be outside very long either! If it's possible, you might ask them if there is a refrigerator they can store it in until about an hour or so before they cut it. At least you'll CYA.
Ive never had to put a cake outside in such high heat i would be worried. I have a baby shower to do at the end of the month and im nervous just thinking about getting it there.
Actually I just got off the phone with someone who lives close to the park that it will be at - I'll be putting it in her fridge until just before we need it. She's just a couple of minutes away from there.
As far as bugs - the one good thing about being in a drought is that there've hardly been any bugs.
And as far as how I did the cake, I have to admit that I kinda stole Sharon Z's design on one of her flower dvd's - hers looked more elegant of course, but I based it on that. I really love how she did the fondant frame - and then picked up the color around the base.
Oh, and as far as guarantee - I just do this as a hobby, so this is a gift for the grad - I've warned her mom that the frosting will be melting so they know they will get what they get!
