I love the Hershey's Chocolate cake recipe...it's what I get rave reviews from the most - does anybody have an idea how I could make this a dark chocolate recipe?? I have an order for a dark chocolate cake and I don't know if this is considered dark or just chocolate. I'm not good with modifying recipes and experimenting, so I figured I'd leave that up to my fellow science CC'ers!!

If you use Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa powder or any other dark chocolate cocoa, then you will have Dark Chocolate cake.
Hope that helped.

Hershey's has come out with a new Dark Chocolate Cocoa powder - I was able to get some over the holidays - it really makes a dark cake/cupcake - I would recommend using half dark and half regular cocoa powder or a combo to your liking but all dark (unless the person is a true dark chocohaulic) can be a little much. Good luck and let us know how it turns out

You made me start thinking about chocolate cake! LOL. So I went to Hershey's web site. Great recipes. Here's the link:

and here's for the deep dark chocolate cake:

I use the Black Magic cake off the hershey's site - with the dark chocolate cocoa powder and a chocolate ganache icing. OMG!!! TO DIE FOR!! The last one I made I took some no sugar blackberry seedless jam - mixed it with some powdered sugar - so it was kind of gooey(?) and put it between the layers! I had one lady tell me she needed a cigarette and a moment alone after eating that! HA HA HA!! I aim to please!! thumbs_up.gif

simply add coffee to the boiling water, that's what I always do with the same hershey recipe...

I'm super excited about this cake. I am including it in an order I have for next weekend! It's for a babyshower - they didn't want any decorated cakes...just "dessert" cakes. I am making the Black Out cake, a French Vanilla Almond with Strawberry icing and a carrot cake. Does anyone have a good homemade carrot cake recipe??
