I use this recipe. http://cakecentral.com/recipe/the-original-wasc-cake-recipe When I mix it all up I get 7 1/2 cups of batter. How many do you get? When i baked my 10 inch round - I put in 5 cups of batter, with a flower nail, and baked it at 300 for 25 and 325 for 25..came out perfect. I baked two, filled and they only come out to be 3 1/2 inches high. So each layer isn't baking the full 2 inches. Does yours? Any hints would be great! Thanks

It sounds like y ou are not using enough batter in your pan.
that recipe should be enough to fill a 10"x2" round PLUS a 5"x2" round OR some cupcakes.
I *never!* meausre batter by the cup - UUGGGG it's sooooooo messy & NOT accurate - Did you get every speck of that batter out of the cup?? See what I mean?
Fill your pan abourt 2/3rds to 3/4 full - if one were to measure use a ruler and the batter should be about 1 & 1/4" deep in the pan.
