Having Trouble With Wedding Cake Design!

My brother is getting married in September and he has asked me to make their wedding cake. I've been talking to his fiancee about the design of the cake. She said she wanted a cake covered in ruffles that are really popular right now. But I can't seem to figure out how to incorporate the design with the colors she picked for the wedding. I attached the picture she sent me with the colors she wants and a pictures of the cake inspiration she sent me.
I feel like the design of the cake is very elegant and the colors are very rustic, so I can't figure out how they go together. Any suggestions would be welcome!
My gut reaction is to do alternating tiers of all ruffles on every other one and a 3D version of those flowers all over on the other ones.
do the ruffles in graduating layers of geen, going lighter towards the top to almost white and the flowers in the yellow and grey

Those suggestions are great. I guess I should have mentioned that before she sent me this picture she told me the colors were yellow, gray, and navy blue accents. Although there's not really any gray in that picture, so I guess I should disregard that.
Also, what kind of flowers should I use??
All sound good!
How about white ruffles graduating into different hues of yellow. Do two large flowers in deeper yellow with tones of goldenrod for the top and one large flower on the side. Both groups of flowers to have a mingling of tiny white flowers with yellow centers and a couple of tiny navy blue flowers/buds tucked in. Don't forget you can do a colored the ribbon around the bottom board.
The large flowers could be magnolias, peonies or roses. Go to Craftsy.com and preview the gumpaste flower video for free. The flowers I'm thinking of are displayed.
Good luck. I'm sure you'll have a beautiful cake!
