Cross-contamination of flavors

Hi fellow bakers, I'm new to baking and was wondering if cross-contamination of flavors occur when different flavors are baked in the same oven? I'm not concerned about food allergies, just flavors e.g. vanilla & chocolate.

Not in my oven. I wouldn't speak for anybody else's.

Never heard of it. Shoot, even in a marble cake where chocolate batter is mixed with vanilla batter IN the SAME pan, each batter still holds its flavor. You might get an overlap where the 2 flavors physically mix in the same pan but usually not... at least not in my experience.

I agree with the above posters. At my bakery we always had different products baking in the same oven.

No, there's no flavor cross over.

Remember: as the cake is baking, the heat causes some evaporation of ingredients OUT. That also means that any other cake in the oven is doing the same thing at the same time...each cake is protected by its own moisture evaporating out from absorbing any other cake smells.

Just because you smell all the different flavours in the kitchen doesn't mean that the cakes are sharing them.
