Is it ok to make a gumpaste ribbon on cake?

I am almost done with a cake covered in fondant. But their are some decorative strips of ribbon I still have to attach to the cake on the fondant. I know normally these would be made from fondant but is it ok to use gumpaste? Its already the exact color I need andI have extra!

Of course it's OK. All the books for gumpaste flowers show gumpaste ribbons.

Yes, absolutely. When I make ribbons for my cakes, I do 1/2 gumpaste, 1/2 fondant.
