I love wedding cake but never can find a recipe to make at home that gives me everything a store-made cake gives me, especially the density (I guess that's the word I want). I tried the WASC recipe and it was good, but not quite enough. I'm hoping to make one for the husband for our five year aniversary this year. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, can a chocolate or red velvet cake be made with that same density? Sorry if these are dumb questions or already answered.

Have you ever tried a pound cake recipe? I use the "tasty and moist vanilla pound cake" recipe here on CC under most saved recipes. I believe that is where I found it. It is dense yet moist. After a traditional fruit cake, pound cake is your next best choice for dense cakes.
