I have looked on here using the search and couldnt come up with anything. I am doing a ruffle cake covered in fondant and ruffles made from fondant. I have been looking online and saw a few videos on youtube. What Im wondering is should I cover the bottom tier that will have the ruffles in fondant or just attach the ruffles to the buttercream? It seems to be I find it 50-50 online on how people say to do it. Just wondering what from someone who has done the cakes which way they do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
I have done them a few times attaching onto a fondant covered cake, but like you said, I have seen it directly to the buttercream. I think you shoud do whichever you are more comfortable with. I personally don't work with buttercream all that often, mostly ganache and fondant. That is my comfort zone, so that is what I do. Do what you feel comfortabe with, since it seems both methods work.
I did ruffle dress on a cake i did and i posted the same question before i did it.. i ended up rolling a thin layer of fondant to attatch the ruffles. I am no professional and I think it would have been a big mess trying to attatch the ruffles directly to the buttercream.
I would be afraid the ruffles wouldn't adhere well enough to the buttercream, especially if it's hot.
Thank you for the replies!! I ended up doing the ruffles ontop of the fondant and thankfully since it was over 100* yesterday and today because the buttercream would have never held up!! I appreciate all the help!
