Hello,
I'm making my first wine crate cake with a gumpaste wine bottle on top. I'm stacking three cakes to make a deep wine crate. When making wedding cakes I use a cardboard base in between cake layers. Should I do the same with this one or will they hold up without it? A little worried!

Also, when making the wine bottle out of gumpast, does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for the wine bottle label? Someone said to use rice paper but I've never worked with it before and am not sure if that's the best way to go.
