Hi everyone, its been awhile since I posted, but I am hoping someone has some suggestions....or to just tell me it won't work!! or it will hopefully haha icon_smile.gif

anyways, has anyone used wilton's long loaf pan and used it to stand up on its end? I think it measures about 16" or something, so I was wondering if I used this cake, stood it up, and put a dowel down through the middle of it to the board, if it would stay standing? What do you all think??

Any suggestions, comments, would be much appreciated!! thanks in advance everyone!

Nope. When looking at the cake you need to make relative to it's final position relative to gravity, you need to have a plate (be it cardboard or whatever) and pillars (straws, dowels, whatever) for ever 4" of cake. Now, you can certainly bake in that pan, but you need to cut it into 4" tall sections and dowel it just like you would any multi-tiered cake. Then you just ice the whole thing up as one.

Thanks so much for your reply! I ended Up just using an 11x15x1 cake and cutting it into squares since I never got to the store to by the long loaf. I stacked 10 pieces of 3x4x1 and put a cake board in between each 3 slices. It was wobbly but I was going to put two dowels into them all the way down......until of course I reached for my dowels and the top four pieces toppled over into the floor. Sigh icon_sad.gif so now the bottom 4 inches are styrofoam as I didn't have time ( or the energy) to make more cake. I didn't realize I should be doweling at four inches then again at another 4 inches....silly me, totally makes sense now! I will know for next time!!! So thank you soooo much!!!!
