Hi, just wondering if anybody knows an equivalent to box cake mix. Its for a recipe that cooks cake in an orange peel over a camp-fire but I really don't like using box mixes just as I feel I dont work well with them and I have looked and looked but found no home-made alternative to the box mix.I would really appreciate it if anybody could give me a recipe or a way to convert one of my own recipes. Also if anybody has tried this with a home made mix how has it worked out?

I think you just need a sturdy cake. I would suggest Warren Brown's yellow. It's on his site, Cake Love.
