My niece and I made her sister a cake for the lingerie shower. It was a "teddy" cake. We used sugar sheets for the "teddy". These things do not bend. It had horrible cracks all over it. And they taste absolutely horrible. Even our children didn't want any. Thanks goodness she understood and just laughed about it. I was going to put decorations on her wedding cake with sugar sheets...NO WAY... I took them babies back to Wal-Mart!

It depends on the brand you use. If you got them at Walmart I'm guessing they are Wilton and Yes they are horrible. I use the premium sheets from icingimages and they are very pliable (never had a problem with breakage or cracking) and they don't taste bad.

I used to have a lot of faith in Wilton when I first started. But over the years and plenty of cakes later I've learned to not always trust Wilton. From baking pans, to food coloring, to meringue powder, etc. I usually go with other higher quality brands instead. Thank you for posting your experience with these sugar sheets. I've seen the Wilton ones and have wondered what they are like. I'll stay away from these!

You can definitely only bend them one direction, even II's sheets. It's not fondant and it's not going to stretch and conform to something round like a boob (which is what I'm assuming you tried to do - and anyway the pattern would have gotten all distorted). You can bend one way (like wrapping it around the sides of a round cake) but not two without pleats at the very least.
