Cupcakes separating from case

Hi,

I have used the Hummingbird bakery's recipe for chocolate cupcakes before and had no problems with it, however I recently made two batches and once they been rested for a while they all seemed to form an oval shape and started to crack on the top and separate themselves from their cases-almost looking as if someone had started to remove them from their cases.

I did have one small mishap with my first batch and managed to somehow knock the temperature of my over from gas 5 to gas 9, so the first batch went in the bin! These two, however, were cooked at gas 5 for around 20 minutes.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks icon_smile.gif

Hello joaquinfan, I'm also new to baking cupcakes but I learnt that cupcakes shrink and crack on top if they're overbaked.

Did you take the cupcakes out of the pan straight away? If not, they will continue to cook in the pan.

Hope this helps!
