Will they eat this color? Choc. Crm. Chse w/ black?

A friend wants me to make a bride & groom cake using buttercream and fondant accents. She chose chocolate cream cheese frosting for the groom's cake and wants it to look like he is dressed in a gray tux. I tried adding black to the brown frosting today and I'm not excited about putting this on a 3 tiered cake. I made some fondant to match and played around with the design and now I'm wondering if it has any eye-appeal at all. I want people to eat and enjoy the cake. Should I talk to the bride about a different frosting? Have any of you ever added melted white chocolate to cream cheese frosting? I wondered if I tinted that gray if it would look more appealing. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The wedding in June 30th so I'm experimenting this week. Thanks.

You would need to roll a layer of grey fondant and completely cover the buttercream for the grooms cake. You can add shiny grey for the lapels with a little silver dusting powder...very elegant if the colours are kept light.

Or you use white chocolate for the buttercream. YES you can add it...you melt it and add it to the butter. Cream that then cream in the cream cheese and sugar.

There is no edible way to make dark brown buttercream into grey. Keep your sample and ask the bride in for a tasting. I think she will agree with you.
