Alternative To Ordering Direct From Ck Products

This question is for people that have business licenses and order wholesale.

CK is trying to kill me, I think. I placed an order last week and NEEDED all of it. I just got my invoice of what is actually being sent to me and it's only 1/3 of my order, and of course I am positive I forgot to click that stupid "backorder" option when I was ordering. Out of my $300 order, I'm getting about $100 of it. I'm SO over them. Every order always has some sort of problem, but this is by far the worst. I now have to go to my local cake store and pay out the nose for these things (if my local cake store even has them). I'm also calling CK tomorrow and demanding to know what happened but I'm sure they are going to tell me I'm SOL unless I want to pay for expedited freight shipping.

Anyway, is there an alternative to CK? I have several wholesale accounts with other bakery supplies, but CK has tons of stuff that those places don't have (gumpaste/flower making, dusts, Celcrafts, and, well, CK brand stuff etc). Who is their competitor? Or do they even have one? Am I stuck with CK?

I know a lot of people don't like to post their suppliers so a PM would be very much appreciated.

TFR!

Amazon.com actually sells several items from CK Products, many with prime shipping (free 2 day shipping if you pay $79/year). Not sure how the price compares to wholesale but it's gotta be better than buying at local retail stores.

Amazon is not an option, they don't stock this stuff. They may have stores that sell thru Amazon but the shipping and handling of most (if not all) of these places are out of this world expensive. But thanks for the suggestion. I might as well order from GSA or NYCake.

COUGH! I just looked up one of the things that I didn't get in my order on Amazon... it's $50 plus $11 in S&H.

It's $22 thru CK.

So yeah, wholesale suppliers, please!

Most of the CK products stuff I've seen on Amazon.com is sold by Amazon directly. And any third-party retailer that offers Prime shipping automatically ships 2-day for free if you are a Prime member. You can automatically exclude products that aren't available via Prime, as in the search below.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ck+products#/ref=sr_nr_p_85_0?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ack+products%2Cp_85%3A1&keywords=ck+products&ie=UTF8&qid=1340074607

They obviously won't have everything, but the products that are available via Prime tend to be a good deal.

Thanks again Jason, I do appreciate your help, but the above is not correct. I've been a Prime member since they launched the program and unless it's Amazon selling the item, Prime benefits do not apply and the retailer can charge whatever they want for shipping. I already order hundreds from Amazon a month for personal use icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway CK carries more then just CK Products products. They are a general specialty cake supplier that carries everything from Wilton to Duff to PME to Celcrafts. Was hoping someone out there has an idea of another wholesale company like CK???

I often buy from third-party sellers that offer Prime shipping and get free 2-day shipping. Both Amazon and third-party sellers have the option whether or not to participate in Prime shipping for each item. You are correct that if a third-party retailer does not participate in Prime, they can charge anything they want for shipping.

Best of luck finding an alternative to CK.

Prices are generally fantastic - except their ordering sucks. You have no idea if something isn't in stock and you have no idea how much your shipping is until they send it. You order totally blind.

You should call to follow up with them about an account. Unless someone has another place????????????

That kind of nonsense really ticks me off! But I tend to order more stuff that I don't need than stuff I do need. I really wish my husband would tell me to stop spending money... He is too good to me.

I fill my online cart on The Website Who Must Not Be Named, then print it out and drive up there. It is 35 miles from me. They fill my order, and I find a whole tiny cart full of stuff that is cool while I wait. It is retail, but I love touching it before I buy. I also have a bakemart within 40 miles, but the chick was a real B. when I called, so I am punishing us both by not going up there...

I don't think I have the patience for sugar work. Maybe I'll try it once our last kid goes to school. Or when they all move out.
