Cake ball wedding cake

Does anyone have a formula or suggestion for calculating how many cake balls are needed for a 3-4 tier wedding cake?
I need to come up with a number for my client. I think they want at least 300, I use a scoop a little larger than a melon baller for mine if that is helpful at all. I appreciate any ideas on how to approach this. Thanks icon_smile.gif

Can you go by the number of guests? For example, 300 guests = 300 cake balls. I know cake balls are trendy, but I find this wedding cake trend really odd. Not that anyone ever asked my opinion...

Find the circumference of each cake : 3.14 x diameter

Find diameter of cake ball.

Find a: How many cake balls will be needed for the hieight of each cake: Height / cake ball diameter

Find b: How many cake balls will go around the cake: circumference / cake ball diameter

For each tier: a x b = number of cake balls for thaat tier.

Add this total for each tier together.

Thank you for your help, that's what I was thinking but couldn't quite get it together in my mind. My brain is weird like that sometimes.
