I would like to make this pregnant belly cake for my cousin's baby shower next month but I'll need to transfer the cake to a half sheet cake. How would you recommend moving the belly cake without failure lol. Also what type of support should I use? I plan to use the wilton sports ball pan and the mini ball pan for boobs so it won't be that big. TIA!

I would make sure you had some support in the sheet cake where you need to place it (white hollow pillars) and the belly cake on a board to sit on the pillars. And I use a lg one sided cookie sheet to lift my cakes even when I tourt them much easier. You can find many sizes at bed bath & beyond that would work well for you. HTH.

Are you baking the half sheet cake? I would construct it as I would any other cake at that point.

If you are just making the "woman", then I would put it on regular cake boards, take dowel supports with you because you probably don't know the density of the cake you have to place yours atop. I would construct on site, meaning that I wouldn't dress her until I placed the pieces on the sheet cake. I would have her butter creamed, but not dressed if that makes any sense.

I would hand trim the size that you need and than use it as a guide (before placing belly cake on it) and mark where the dowels would go, place them in and than butter cream your sheet cake and your belly etc.. and than place the belly on top of it and contruct as you would to your finished product. In my opinion I would complete it befor delivery, It's not that big of a cake that as long as your supports are right you would be able to transport it with not problem. again just my opinion

Thanks so much for the replies everyone icon_smile.gif. If I'm reading the last comment correctly I should put the cake on a 9x13 board and basically trace the shape of the cakes and cut the board exact... Is this correct?

Yes. What others said above is what I did with this one. Trace the body on another board and cut it out and treat it like any other layered cake. I use the large milkshake or bubble tea straws as my support, and it transported fine completely assembled..
