Need to make a cake for my mom's birthday. She has 12 children, so would like to put a picture of each kid's family on the cake. Decided on two stacked hex cakes--6 pics on each. Now how can I make this look nice?? I'll probably have to make a frame for each photo...Colors?? Does someone have a pic of one they did?? TIA
Well there's one in my pics I did for my grandparent's 60th anniversary. It's probably a bit old fashioned because, well it's for old fashioned people. But I laminated the pictures so they'd stick to the bc with just a smear of bc on the back and then it doesn't ruin the pics. Everyone loved it because it was so personal.
How about edible ink pictures? If you know someplace that can print them for you that might be a way to do it.
Firstly congratulations for your mum, I'm one of 13 and I just don't know how my parents managed all of us, I've 3 myself and sometimes feel overwhelmed!
As to the cake, you could pipe the frames on once you stick the photos (edible images right?) I would cover both cakes in white fondant or bc and then brighten up the cake with the photos and different frames, maybe a different colour for each family? I could see where this could go totally wrong though with too many colours so maybe someone else has a better idea?
Rather than each photo having a different color frame, pick 2 of her favorite colors to use. There should be NO more than 5 but preferabley 3 *total* used on the whole cake....
and Yes, white does count as a color
Thanks guys for the food for thought. I do have the edible images, just trying to make it "clean" looking. 3 colors it is...
