i have a wedding cake to do for next Sat. I find myself getting anxious and all kinds of thoughts of what might happened fllod my mind. Does anybody else go through this?
Don't worry, take a deep breath and think about how awesome the cake is going to look when it's done. I don't make wedding cakes, but having read through so many of these threads, what you are feeling is normal.
If it is a regular stacked cake and not some crazy gravity defying cake then I don't really worry. That must really add extra stress for you. Sorry you have these thoughts. Think about every thing that you did correctly in order not to have any problems with the cake. Hopefully this will give you some piece of mind.
I so know how you feel. I have my first wedding cake to do in November. I am stressing already and its 5 months away. Sometimes I just wish the couple calls off the wedding. Now Im just tripping!
I'm a planner so as long as I have every scenario thought out its easier on me. I get all of my supplies ready ahead of time. I bake my cakes a week or two ahead and freeze. It always feels good to know they are baked and ready to go, and there are no suprises.
I know you will do fine, but if negative thoughts pop in your head it happens to me too. Also as i'm decorating the cake I sometimes think its not going to turn out, and the ones I have hated the most, have turned out the best. So don't panic, it usually works out in the end,
i know EXACTLY how you feel! it doesn't matter how many times i do it. but, the key to getting over it is giving yourself enough time to do everything! whether it's prep work and or just baking...give yourself some down time so that you don't feel overwhelmed. good luck!
I hear you Sista! I get consumed with thoughts of the cake and what I need to do and what I can add or not add, on and on and on! Good luck!
I've done two big wedding cakes and I went through the anxiety with both of them. About a week or 2 before the wedding I start wondering why I ever said I'd do it. And who do I think I am that I can make something so important as a wedding cake!
But like others have said, just plan every detail out. Make lists, do everything you possibly can ahead of time. If you're concerned about a specific detail of the cake, have a plan B in place. Once it's over and everything works out, it's all worth it in the end.
I really think if you plan well, do your research to make sure the structure is sound and you support everything properly, you'll have success. Good luck and try to relax a bit and enjoy it
