Last year when I started making cakes, I agreed to make a wedding cake for my best friend. Our original idea was to frost it with white buttercream and make a thinner orange colored icing to pour over it so it looked like it was dripping down the cake.

I might also mention beforehand that at my workplace, we run a drive through coffeeshop and we also do baking, but we have no air conditioning in our building and in July in North Dakota, it runs about 80-90 in here.

we got all the layers of the cake frosted and had it all put together. I left for wedding rehearsal because I was also IN the wedding, and when I got back an hour later, all of the frosting had slid off the layers of cake and we had to start completely over. We ended up doing something completely different with the cake but it came out beautifully!

I ended up spending more hours than I'd like to admit making the flowers out of fondant...I made all of them except the baby's breath. It was the first BIG cake I've ever made and I'm quite proud of it.

Nice save!icon_smile.gif
I just had a melting cake incident too. icon_sad.gif not fun for the ego, but when you can fix it, that always helps.
