Charity work is great, but we all still need to watch how our business is affected. I'm in the minority here, but again, it is so confusing when two businesses give the same thing. In my above senario, I have been at events where other parents have made box mix cakes or bad cookies and people still ask if they are mine. People do get confused. You want to give, but not in a way that it will be detrimental to your business.
So if the other baker is similar in style to your style, or both are equally great, neither of you will suffer. The problem only exists if the other baker is not that good.
