I am very new to cake decorating (1st Wilton class) and am planning a buttercream Lego cake for my son's 4th birthday. The party will be family only so I have a great group of test subjects. icon_razz.gif

Today I was at the Lego store and picked up some minifigure ice cube silicon molds on a whim, thinking I could use them for some kind of edible decoration to accent the cake. They are safe up to 140 degrees, and I am not sure what would be best to use to make the little guys. I did a forum search and nothing jumped out at me, so I would love some suggestions.

you could use either chocolate or gumpaste in the mold. Just make sure that you either dust with powdered sugar or cornstarch to make it easier to get out. You might want to check out the thread on the Wilton molds. some people put them in the freezer to make the material harden. Anyway, great idea, hope it works out for you!
