Hi guys im almost finished my cakes for the baby shower thanks for all of your help!! Now i have a new problem i nicked my cake a few times while putting on the decorations and have no idea how to get it back smooth again! i dont have time to take everything back off. and i put fondant Zebra stripes on the cake and the cake is white so if i take them off is will leave that awful purplish stain! could i try a viva paper towel? perhaps?

If it is a crusting buttercream you can use a bit of viva or even just light touches with your finger. If it is a non-crusting you will need to use a small spatula to re-smooth it. Basically, whatever you did to smooth it in the first place, do that just in the knicked areas.

I always ask my brides what they are doing with it (so I can help them plan for appropriate remaining servings and so I can include that detail on the cake info sheet) and they are 50/50. We do offer a free (not a replica) tier a year later for any of our brides.

In the title you said knicked my cake. I read it fast and thought you wrote "kicked my cake". I was trying to imagine how you managed to kick it while decorating! LOL-a nick is much easier to correct than a kick!!

Oops, the wrong post posted! I meant to say can you just cover it with another zebra stripe?
