I need to make a couple for a upcoming cake and it will be made from gumpaste, can someone help with the the support structure for them to stand up on top of the cake?? I've looked for tutorials but most are sitting figures, any help would be greatly appreciated

I would use wires wrapped in gumpaste for their legs and leave several inches of the wire sticking out of the feet so you can just stick it down into the cake. Use heavier gauge wire. And maybe don't attach the figures to the cake till you set up at the venue.

Depending on the size and shape you could use candy sucker sticks or skewers (kabob sticks). As the other poster said, leave several inches extend so you can push that into the cake.

I use pastilage to make stand up figures and i use thin skewers. I build the figures on a piece of styrofoam and leave 3-4 inches to go down thru cake. i let them dry on the styrofoam and ready to put on the cake. I position them on the styrofoam as i want them to be on the cake. You can see ace of cake , cake in my pics. a girl model , etc. This works great for me.hth
