I do not have an airbrush... and I need black fondant. Can I use the Wiltons Color mist spray on the fondant? Has anyone tried that? TIA

I've tried the Wilton Color Mist Spray - Black on chocolate clay for posts for a wrestling cake. It didn't color very well. The only success so far was red on fondant roses. With this spray you have to spray a coat, let dry, then spray again otherwise if you spray too much it will have a spotty or blotchy appearance. Test a sample piece of fondant before attempting on your cake to see if there is a possibility that it could work. Oops forgot I did spray other colors on fondant with no problem, just not sure about black. HTH

Maybe it's just me but I don't have good luck with it! It doesn't cover evenly & runs. I buy black fondant from Global.

I have only used red, pink and blue color mist on fondant cakes. Never tried the black yet. I would recommend you buy black pre-made fondant. I use Satin Ice black fondant for all my cakes and when I need black gum paste I just sprinkle some Tylose powder into it and knead it. Color mist is a bit tricky. Spray too close and it is a liquid mess. Spray too far and you waste the bottle.
