Hi all, I am a newbie, this is my first post. I am just starting to teach myself to bake from scratch from cook books. My oven knob/control dose not work, so how do I know the right heat for my cake? Is there anything to gauge the heat like an oven thermometer? Where/ how can I get this in England or anywhere else? Thank you

Sorry I cannot help with you being 'over the pond' but here in the states it is easy to find oven thermometers in kitchen supply stores, even many supermarkets. Don't be tempted to buy the cheapest ones (here around $2) but invest in a good one. Hope that helps some.
