This is how I do it as well, it works great! I've never understood the idea of baking the cake right in the cone - the icing to cake ratio is just so wrong!! A previous poster mentioned baking in the cone, then filling the inside with icing, and I thin that is a good idea, if you really want to bake the batter right inside the cone.
