Just trying to get an idea of how to plan a cake? I want a page that has the kind of cake, the decorations, basically every part of the cake. What do you use when planning a cake? I feel like just using Word will be a lot of work and it would never be the same. Thanks in advance.

We use an engineering pad, with examples and inspiration pieces printed on separate sheets.

I use a sketch pad for initial designs and then graph paper for scaling.

I just do old school pencil sketches. I scan them into Jpeg and insert the sketch into the cake contract.

I've been using pencil/paper to sketch then take a photo of the sketch to attach to the order. I currently use Evernote to create my notes for each order and I can attach the sketch to the note. I also send an order confirmation email to my customers and attach the sketch to the email.

You could look in this section in the Galleries for ideas of cake shapes to embellish:
