im not a pro baker but i do get quite a few requests for cakes and then some months im lucky if i can get 1 order. i want to decorate cakes full time but cant figure out how to get through the slow months, does anyone have ideas on how to keep an income? do you sell other items or just cakes?

What is your competitive advantage, and who are you targeting?
In my experience the best way to get consistent income is with corporate accounts and selling wholesale, but you should first check the laws in your state to see if you can legally sell wholesale from home (if you are in fact baking from home).

You can diversify your product line, or save some of the money from the nice months for the lean ones.
