Feeding And Storing A Wedding Cake
Baking By tracieduran Updated 20 May 2012 , 7:49pm by tracieduran
I am making a four tier cake and have completed the two fruit layers but how often should I feed it and how should I store it. I have read a lot of books and they say foil! I am not sure about this. PLEASE HELP
all my fruit cakes are fed once a week, just a teaspoon or two of which ever alcohol you are using, it doesnt need alot at all, some weeks i will check and feel the cake is getting wet, so i wont feed it that week. i usually feed and store my cakes for at least 3 month before i use them. As for storage, i wrap them in greaseproof paper, before i wrap them with foil, have done this method for about five year now and never had an issue
Thanks very much. will do just that. My bride wants the cake stacked so I know i need a drum board for the base but as another fruit cake is stacking on top do i neeed another drum or is a thin board ok the rest of the cake is sponge.
