How To Attach Flowers On Dummy Cakes ?

I am working with dummy cakes for the first time and I was wondering how everyone attached gumpaste flowers to their dummies. I am worried that if I stick the wires in the cake I will create a hole that will be difficult to cover the next time I want to use the dummy.
Does anyone just cut the wires very short and glue it onto the fondant covered dummy?
Thanks for any tips.
Unless you have many, many petals - therefore many, many wires bunched up there should be such a small hole as to not be noticable.
Certainly you can cut the wires short and use icing to stick them to the cake.
I use a knitting needle to poke a hole in the dummy and put in the flowers .
When I re use the dummy I just plug any holes with either a bit of fondant or royal and smooth it off.
