Clever ways with smarties

Hello Ccers! I'm after ideas if anyone can help me please.

My son will be 5 in a week and has asked for smarties on his birthday cake. The cake will be round or square and covered with fondant. I don't want to just pebble-dash the cake with smarties but I'd like to something or a couple of cool things. My creative juices just aren't flowing! icon_sad.gif

I've come up with a little treasure chest filled with smarties or bunting made with mini smarties.

Any other ideas please?[/quote]

How about a mosaic picture using smarties? Probably work best on a round cake.

Life's too short to make cake pops.
